II. Job Summary: The Design Engineer is directly responsible to ensure product CAD design, drawing and math data integrity for current and new business opportunities. Feasibility/design Review/vehicle assembly study and problem resolution, quote technical review lead, building a good bridge between OEMs and company side. This position is sometimes co-located with the customer and supports ongoing change management, overall customer satisfaction and account growth.



III. Job Functions and Duties:

Representative Duties

  1. As a technical window to customers; functions reflectively with customer requests; ensure smooth communication with customers, and establish a good relationship with customer
  2. Assists in professionally preparing quote packages and effectively using in depth insight into customer requirements.
  3. Build the connection between OEM and company side for Technical Review for each RFQ, clarify the concerns between each party and find solutions.
  4. Create the CAD data with OEM surface A input, making sure the functionality/gap/flush design/performance/ability all related factors are considered properly and meet customer/plant side requirements. With OEM CAD standard to create the CAD and publish them for review/study/TKO etc
  5. Lead Design review with OEM/plant/department different related parties, make sure all concerns are figured out and resolved
  6. Lead and conduct each Engineer Change Request, both OEM side and company side, update the drawing/CAD data with agreement from all related parties.
  7. Release the data per department required process. Managing post SOP engineering changes or special customer orders/quotations/spot buys
  8. Control and verify the product design data and drawings. This involves the transfer, identification and organization of all data to and from the Customer, Internal and external Suppliers as well as Fuyao Headquarters in China.
  9. Incorporate Design criteria effectively and efficiently as directed by the Design Engineering Manager and other members of the Fuyao Engineering Staff
  10. Effectively maintain ‘Open issues list’ for current design activities and work in conjunction with appropriate team members to assist in reaching resolution/closure.
  11. Understands customer procedures and processes, customer product approval systems and purchasing procedure process and effectively works within that framework to maximize customer satisfaction.
  12. Understands Fuyao's Products, Processes, specifications and tolerances.
  13. Prepare Design presentations as necessary to convey key concepts, proposals, issues and recommended countermeasures to Design concerns.
  14. Use design analysis tools like simulation softwares or CATIA/NX to evaluate and complete automotive component design.
  15. Assist in the Development of manufacturing/car assembly process prior to prototype vehicle builds

Job Requirements:

  • Language: Languages spoken commonly in the workplace are English and Mandarin. - Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, leadership and customers.
  • Experience: More than 3 years experience with automotive OEM's and/or Tier 1 Suppliers, with glass group experience, technology, design, quality or production preferred
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences
  • Physical Condition: This position will spend the majority of time in office environments within Fuyao and onsite at various customer locations. It will be frequently necessary to spend time on the manufacturing floor within Fuyao and also onsite at customer locations.
  • Strict observance of Fuyao safety policy & standards, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as compliance with our customer's safety policies are mandatory.


Other Requirements:

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - ability read and interpret drawings, and solve complex mathematical problems

REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS - Knowledge of and familiarity design/manufacturing software. UG/CATIA knowledge required.

V. Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment can sometimes be moderate. Safety requirements for this position can include safety glasses and steel-toed work boots.
