We are seeking a highly skilled Distribution Systems Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our Power Delivery Services Team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for our utility clients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems
- Collect field data to assist in developing work packages
- Review work provided by clients and assess requirements of scopes
- Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis and voltage drop calculations
- Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
- Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial)
- 2+ years of experience in electrical distribution design engineering
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to utilize a personal vehicle for customer-related travel
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and demonstrate strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
- Relevant experience working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company
- Experience with distribution design tools, such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc, or similar
- Knowledge of NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation
