The project engineer will manage the technical elements of contracts or programs, ensuring the day-to-day operations meet cost, schedule, and technical criteria to deliver products and services to the customer. This role requires a versatile skill set, including hardware and software integration, systems engineering, and testing. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, enabling effective interaction with all stakeholders throughout the program's duration.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily execution of contracts or programs, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule constraints.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of project artifacts and customer requirements.
  • Facilitate the integration and testing processes to verify customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Program Manager to maintain a synergistic working relationship.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to the Program Manager and senior engineering leadership.
  • Present project updates and technical information to customers during scheduled meetings and events.
  • Utilize agile methodologies and sprint-based practices for project management.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables across various disciplines.
  • Participate in organizational engineering processes and uphold technical standards.
  • Develop Basis-of-Estimates (BOEs) for proposals as required.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and recommend preventative measures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM field (equivalent years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Over 5 years of experience in the defense or Department of Defense (DoD) sectors.
  • Proficient in requirements development, integration and testing, and obtaining customer approvals.
  • Experience in integrating hardware and software systems both in laboratory settings and in the field.
  • Skilled in gathering requirements and providing rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates for proposals and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering project management, including project planning, scheduling, technical task estimation, resource estimation, risk assessment, delivery of contract data requirements list (CDRL) items, and adherence to company processes.
  • Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in relevant software tools, including requirement analysis tools, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, agile management tools, and test management tools.
  • Knowledgeable about safety regulations and quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with Open Architecture Standards such as FACE and OMS.
  • Understanding of modeling methodologies, including SysML, UML, and DoDAF.
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces, such as MIL-STD-1553 and serial interfaces.
  • Familiar with software interfaces, including STANAG 4586, FACE TSS, and OMS CAL.
  • Experience in configuring networks, including VLANs and software-defined networking (SDN).
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
