Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering and experience working with public clients in Maryland, Delaware, and/or Virginia. The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

The Bridge Project Engineer will be responsible for conducting structural analyses, evaluations, and designs; developing design options or recommendations with supporting calculations; reviewing structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines; and developing and coordinating plans, specifications, and estimates for bridge and other transportation structure projects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for performing quality control reviews of work products developed by junior engineers; assisting in the planning and management of all aspects of bridge inspection, design, and rehabilitation projects; participating in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance; leading routine bridge inspections for state and local agencies; managing and reviewing load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agencies; developing and coordinating design recommendation reports; and overseeing and reviewing bridge hydrology and hydraulics analyses.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a B.S. in Structural Engineering degree (M.S. preferred) and 4+ years of experience in structural engineering. A PE licensure is preferred, and experience with MDOT-SHA, MDOT-MDTA, DelDOT, and/or VDOT is required. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as well as a positive attitude and a desire to work in a collaborative environment. NHI #130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges and NHI #130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges are preferred.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be able to maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration; read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language; have basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members; and be able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19 inches or less. The successful candidate will also be able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6 to 20 feet and wear GPI required PPE, including hard hats, safety vests, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working.
