Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and maintain medical records and related documents.
  • Review and analyze medical records to identify key information relevant to legal cases.
  • Prepare detailed medical chronologies that outline the sequence of medical events and treatments.
  • Summarize medical records concisely and accurately for attorney review.
  • Construct comprehensive special damages charts detailing the financial impact of medical treatments and injuries.
  • Calculate and document medical expenses, lost wages, and other related damages for litigation purposes.
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Conduct legal research and gather pertinent case information.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary medical history and documentation.
  • Provide updates and explanations regarding case progress and medical documentation.
  • Aid in the preparation of trial exhibits and evidence presentation.
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and medical professionals as required.


Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with knowledge in preparing medical chronologies and special damages charts.
  • Experience working in personal injury, medical malpractice, or similar areas of law.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of healthcare documentation.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
