Position Summary: The Supplier Quality Manager role calls for a seasoned professional with a robust background in fabrication, supplier qualification, and manufacturing operations. This position demands firsthand experience in nurturing supplier relationships, overseeing qualification processes, and optimizing manufacturing operations. A deep understanding of fabrication techniques, cost estimation, scheduling, and quality control is crucial to ensure the consistent delivery of top-tier components within set timelines and budgets.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and sustain strong ties with key suppliers, fostering open communication and aligning expectations on quality standards and production schedules.
  • Supplier Qualification Management: Spearhead the evaluation and qualification of potential suppliers, conducting thorough assessments of capabilities, capacities, and quality systems through on-site audits and evaluations.
  • Manufacturing Process Expertise: Apply manufacturing engineering expertise to assess and enhance supplier manufacturing processes, focusing on product quality, cost-efficiency, and operational efficacy.
  • Quality and Compliance Assurance: Ensure suppliers adhere to quality control protocols, driving continuous improvement initiatives to elevate the quality of supplied components.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline supply chain processes, minimize lead times, and mitigate risks linked to supplier-related disruptions.
  • Technical Guidance and Support: Provide technical assistance to suppliers, address fabrication and manufacturing challenges, and participate in design for manufacturability (DFM) initiatives.
  • Issue Identification and Resolution: Proactively identify supply chain and manufacturing bottlenecks, devising and executing solutions to ensure timely component delivery.
  • Recordkeeping and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of supplier interactions, audits, and improvement initiatives, generating detailed reports to communicate supplier performance and enhancement efforts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to align supplier capabilities with product specifications.


Job Qualifications:

  • Required:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years in fabrication, supplier qualification, and manufacturing operations, with expertise in fabrication techniques, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
  • Remote Work: Demonstrated ability to work remotely with substantial travel requirements.
  • Preferred Certifications: Professional certifications like CPSM, CSCP, CQE, CSQP, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional critical thinking, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in industry standards, quality management systems, and ERP software.


Business Travel: Significant travel required, primarily with key suppliers in Canada and Mexico.
