Job Description:

As the Director of Finance for MEI, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities of our business. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: billing, payments, expense management, profit and loss analysis, payroll processing, and financial reporting. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks is essential for this role.


Job Responsibilities


Billing and Invoicing:

  • Generate and process accurate and timely invoices for clients.
  • Ensure billing is aligned with project milestones and employee billing rates.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments to vendors and collection from clients.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate financial records of transactions.


Project Costing & Pricing:

  • Ensure revenue and expenses are allocated accurately and timely.
  • Prepare, evaluate and process proposals to ensure fees appropriately represent scope of work and market acceptance.
  • Track and manage shifts in scope and prepare added services as required.
  • Research market trends and ensure fees across the business are aligned to customer expectations.


Expense Management:

  • Oversee and control employee expenses to optimize cost-efficiency.
  • Track and analyze expenditures to identify cost-saving opportunities, developing cost-center budgets for departments.
  • Utilize QuickBooks to maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  • Manage travel and related expenses across the organization.
  • Research, select, and support the software roll-out of a T&E platform.


Payroll Processing:

  • Process employee compensation, including gross wages, deductions, and net pay.
  • Ensure payroll taxes and deductions in compliance with local and federal regulations.


Reporting:

  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports for quarterly reviews.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Identify and report on financial trends and variances, including Profit and Loss Analysis.
  • Lead monthly close meetings, presenting analysis, results, and KPIs for overall business.


KPI Development:

  • Build out KPI framework and support leadership in understanding drivers of performance.
  • Maintain KPIs and support strategic business decisions to improve performance.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Finance Controller or similar role in a small to medium-sized company or large department.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
