Founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1963 by Jack L. Tyler, P.E., Jack Tyler Engineering, Inc exists to serve its customers by providing engineered technical solutions to customers' problems. Jack Tyler Engineering exists to serve two main purposes:

  • We sell and service the equipment that is required to provide clean water to the communities where we live and work. Everyone deserves clean water, and we strive to make sure there is an ample supply. Our equipment collects, treats, and distributes water and wastewater.
  • We sell and service the rotating equipment that is required to keep manufacturing plants up and running in Arkansas and surrounding states. When plants close due to unplanned maintenance and downtime, it can cripple an organization and a community.


The specific equipment that we sell and service from our three Arkansas locations includes pumps and pump systems, compressed air systems, valves, actuators, mechanical seals, controls, water treatment equipment, wastewater treatment equipment, and water storage tanks.


We are seeking a talented and results-driven Project and Sales Manager to join our dynamic sales team. This critical role in our operation develops a high performing team that is interfacing with various JTE team members and customers to ensure we are responsive to clients by generating accurate and timely quotes that best meet their technical needs, serving as the internal quarterback to ensure effective inside support and internal processes to win bids and proactively and effectively deliver all engineered project sales to completion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper equipment selection by understanding the relationship between pumps, motors, valves, actuators, controls, process equipment, and other complementary equipment to develop a complete equipment package to best address the customer needs
  • Learn and study JTE’s entire line card and know how to fully quote solutions with all lines JTE represents.
  • Produce timely, thorough, and accurate quotes using knowledge of all JTE product lines and technical expertise to quote correct solutions for customers
  • Understand the relationship between pumps, motors, mixers, valves, actuators, controls and other complementary equipment to develop a complete equipment package to best address the customer needs
  • Provide leadership and management to the Applications Engineering, Engineered Projects Team, and Inside Sales Team activities by ensuring processes and procedures are followed, workloads and priorities are balanced, and accuracy and speed of project execution and quoting is maximized. Also ensures development and cross-training of the employees in the department.
  • Serves as the leader of the Project Engineering Operational Excellence Pillar which entails Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management, provide management and leadership for continuous improvement projects, and reporting of department activity to the leadership team.
  • Effectively collaborate with the outside sales team to gather all needed information to provide timely and accurate quotes.
  • Correspond with customers, internal team members, and suppliers via email to receive order specifications, verify product availability, ensure order accuracy, and provide order status updates
  • Ensure warranties, related accessories, and spare parts are understood and included in quotes as needed
  • Promote a team approach and work collaboratively and effectively across and within departments
  • Work with Service Manager to determine appropriate installation requirements and labor needs to include in quotes as needed, specifically understanding confined space requirements and impact on labor amounts needed
  • Establish personal rapport with potential and current customers.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, vendor training, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks.
  • Ensure JTE revenue is maximized by following up on quotes
  • Provide helpful and speedy support to the outside sales team and customers
  • Answer calls and route to appropriate staff as needed
  • Be responsible for creating accurate cost worksheets, thorough scope of supply for an aftermarket project, and follow correct order entry process of sales order.
  • Be the point of contact to create clear communication between owner, contractor, and JTE service to ensure a successful, safe, and efficient installation and startup.
  • Become the inside technical support person for Wachs Water and help us grow this new market segment.
  • Be prepared and ready to produce accurate and quick turnarounds of quotes to meet deadlines by having accurate contact lists for vendors, having manufacturer specs on hand and available, keeping detailed records of previous projects that may be similar, and by regularly communicating with manufacturers to understand and know current lead times.
  • Ensure Budgets for Engineered Project Sales are accurate and managed effectively.
  • Provide Drawings and product specifications.
  • Quarterback the Spec review with the Engineered Project Salesperson and the Bid Coordinator ensuring effective teamwork to complete the following: Personally fully read the entire Spec, Specs have been sent to manufacturers if needed, Personally complete Valve Takeoffs, Ensure any equipment needing to get approved as equal has been completed, Ensure that Addendums have been sent to manufacturers, Note any spare parts and spare equipment, and Note any service training and startup
  • Coordinate and communicate with Low Bid Contractors PRE-PO on CMAR / Major Projects.
  • Coordinate approval of all Terms and Conditions by VP of Engineered Project Sales and President.
  • Establish an accurate construction schedule with contractors.
  • Update sales orders in MAS with change orders.
  • Schedule startups, coordinating with manufacturing reps and JTE service, ensuring all have needed paperwork and manuals.
  • Review project file with Engineered Project Salesperson and send to Accounting for invoicing once full and final review is completed.
  • Effectively lead and support the utilization of Clickup as the internal software maintaining all customer and project information.
  • Must be willing to flex and provide support for other tasks and team members as needed.
  • Support all Operational Excellence initiatives as they relate to improving the company’s efficiency and improvement initiatives.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Experience successfully working directly with customers and providing high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with project management tools preferably ClickUp
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Problem-solving abilities
  • High degree of initiative
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Product knowledge of JTE lines and ability to quickly learn new products and offerings
  • Demonstrate dependability by regular and prompt attendance
