POSITION SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and managing volunteers. They work closely with the Program Administrator and State Volunteer Coordinator to support the volunteer program.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage volunteer recruitment and training initiatives.
  • Maintain volunteer database for administrative purposes, volunteer tracking, deployments, and updates.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with volunteers through email, newsletters and print materials.
  • Keep volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities.
  • Develop and/or update corresponding plans, standard operation procedures and/or guidelines related to volunteers and/or volunteer management.
  • Maintain the Respond DE website and social media accounts.
  • Assist with State Health Operations Center (SHOC) operations as needed and serve as back up to the State Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Assist with coordination of meetings and events.
  • Promote volunteerism and public health preparedness at community outreach events.
  • Collaborate with other planners on Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Capabilities.
  • Participate in relevant trainings, workshops, exercises, seminars, webinars, and After-Action Reports (AARs).
  • Assist with all other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate, motivate, lead, and relate effectively to a diverse population.
  • Excellent oral (Public Speaking) and written skills.
  • Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office.
  • Commitment to a team approach of working with staff members and volunteers.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to see change as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Some events may be scheduled outside of normal business hours and attendance is required.
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred, but not necessary.
