Job Title: Training and Development Specialist


Position Overview:

The Technology Learning Specialist leads the Law Firm’s training program for desktop applications, ensuring a well-structured and engaging learning experience. This role involves training new hires and current staff at all skill levels while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

This position can be based in the firm’s Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, or Washington, D.C. offices and offers a hybrid work model, combining on-site and remote work flexibility.


Key Responsibilities:

The following duties represent core aspects of the role, with additional tasks assigned as needed. Reliable and consistent attendance is essential, and accommodations will be made to support individuals with disabilities.

  • New Hire Training: Deliver training on core firm applications and, when necessary, telephone systems in various formats, including classroom, one-on-one, and remote learning.
  • Training Needs Assessment: Collaborate with office administrators, HR, practice group leaders, and other departments to assess user training needs and develop tailored courses.
  • Upgrade and Conversion Training: Plan and deliver training sessions for staff during software upgrades and conversions, ensuring consistency across all offices.
  • Training Materials: Develop, update, and maintain training resources, including manuals, quick reference cards, and e-learning content.
  • Knowledge Resources: Partner with the IT Help Desk and other teams to maintain application reference materials on the firm’s Document Management System (DMS) and intranet.
  • LMS Management: Conduct training sessions listed on the Learning Management System (LMS) calendar and assist in LMS administration.
  • Special Projects: Participate in firm-wide projects and initiatives related to training and technology.
  • New Technology Adoption: Stay up-to-date with new and upgraded software/hardware, contributing to technical documentation and training aids.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical training experience, within a large law firm.
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience creating training manuals and guides.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including templates, macros, and styles.
  • Familiarity with document management systems, internet software, and firm-specific applications such as InterAction, iManage, and Template & Numbering Suite.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Organizational skills for data collection, record-keeping, and reporting.
  • Work Environment:
  • Ability to work beyond standard hours, including after-hours support as needed (37.5 hours per week, 35 in New York).
