Our legal client is seeking a Compliance Specialist to join their Chicago team on a Direct Hire basis.


Location: Downtown Chicago

Salary: $70-80K

Additional Details: Hybrid work schedule


The Compliance Specialist will support the firm’s HR compliance program and initiatives in line with local, state, federal and international laws and regulations. This role will be responsible for performing day-to-day compliance activities to ensure the Firm meets its legal and regulatory obligations within the overall HR function and will play a crucial role in the planning, coordinating and execution of the firm’s compliance training program.


This Compliance Specialist will assist with supporting compliance trainings such as antiharassment, workplace violence, and security awareness trainings in order to ensure the firm is in continuation of being compliant with HR and employment related laws. The Specialist will work on training completion reports, associated materials needed for training such as slide deck creation, coordinating timelines, and policy change work.

· Manage the Compliance Inbox, coordinating and preparing responses to compliance training questions and requests.

· Project manage the firm’s global compliance training programs, working cross-departmentally with Learning & Development, IT and OGC to ensure timely and coordinated completion of required trainings.

· Identify compliance-related training needs and collaborate with the Global Compliance Manager to source, create and implement training plans.

· Maintain compliance training plan documents and report on completion rates to leadership.

· Suggest and implement compliance training-related process improvements.

· Project manage and facilitate changes in policies, procedures and/or systems in response to changes in federal, state, and local laws.

· Identify and research upcoming changes in federal, state and local legislation including, but not limited to, paid leave, background checks, drug testing, pay transparency and required trainings.

· Identify HR policies that need to be developed and/or updated, socialize with HR leadership and other relevant parties.

· Work with HR team members to ensure awareness of and compliance with applicable regulations and related changes.

· Report, on a regular basis, on the progress of specific tasks related to compliance program implementation.

· Design and implement improvements to compliance-related processes.

· Support the implementation of special HR projects and initiatives.

· Stay current with labor and employment trends, applicable HR-related international, federal, state and local legal decisions, regulatory agency guidelines and laws.

· Other related duties as assigned.
