POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Human Resource Generalist performs a variety of Human Resources functions including, but not limited to, recruiting, new hire onboarding and orientation, benefits and leave administration, payroll preparation and processing, HRIS administration, and facilitating employee questions and inquiries.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·      Serves as a member of the HR team with responsibility for the delivery of human resources programs and services in support of Tapestry’s strategic initiatives and principles.

·      Acts as a business partner by formulating partnerships with management. Delivers value-added service to management and employees that reflect the objectives of the organization.

·      Responsible for full-cycle strategic and operational talent acquisition/recruitment.

·      Responsible for the onboarding process of new employees that includes new hire orientation, training, and benefits administration.

·      Maintains benefit enrollment and qualifying life events with employees.

·      Manages and audits benefits related invoices and benefits vendor relationships.

·      Oversees annual open enrollment including communications, coordination with outside parties, healthcare vendors, etc.

·      Manages administration of retirement plan (403(b)), including employee support, enrollment, changes and integration into payroll system.

·      Promptly handles all employment-related inquiries from employees and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the head of HR or leadership as applicable.

·      Maintains Human Resource Information Systems and electronic personnel files, including paid time off accruals and other time off eligibility and benefits.

·      Maintains compensation data and updates wages for annual or other wage adjustments.

·      Manages leave of absence requests and administers leaves of absence including ADA, Disability, FMLA, PFL, Workers Compensation or other leaves.

·      Manages the employee separation process by conducting exit interviews, preparing separation letters, and administering COBRA documents for exiting employees.

·      Responds to and prepares supporting documentation for unemployment claims. When necessary, acts as a witness on specific cases and/or reviews material with management to prepare them for a hearing.

·      Plans and contributes to employee engagement programs.

·      Assists in the development and implementation of new job descriptions, compensation ranges, development of stipends and policies and procedures relative to positions and pay.

·      Works with the leadership and HR team to ensure the employee handbook is up to date.

·      Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, annual sexual harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications.

·      Maintains compliance with company safety practices and committees, OSHA laws, policy, procedure and reporting. 

·      Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including reporting, and recommends best practices.

·      Manages HR compliance activities, such as labor law postings, posting of pay ranges, wage and hour compliance and other compliance related activities.

·      Processes employment verifications, payroll deductions, garnishment, and other paperwork.

·      Additional duties as necessary or assigned.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Bachelor’s Degree required.

·      Minimum of five (5) years of Human Resources experience required. Experience in a educational setting preferred. 

·      SHRM-CP and/or PHR certifications preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•        Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

•        Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

•        Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

•        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

•        Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

•        Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

•        Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

•        Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

•        Proficient with Google Workspace or related software.

•        Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

•        Proficiency with benefits administration, and open enrollment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·      Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer that includes repeated motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers.

·      Repeating motions of moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks such as bending and kneeling in file cabinets.

·      Regular verbal, and written communication with others.

·      Must be able to lift fifteen (15) pounds at times.

·      Must be able to walk and navigate the facility.
