Business Solutions Manager/Specialist

Full time role at McQuilling located in Garden City, NY. This role would report directly to the CTO and be responsible for the applications/business solutions employed within the firm – including commercial off the shelf industry solutions, custom built solutions both internal and external, service delivery solutions (APIs), logical database management and integrations.

The intention of the role is to grow into the full set of responsibilities with the path to potentially step in to more of a technology leadership role. Directionally these responsibilities would include the below.


The Business Solutions Manager/Specialist will focus on aligning business needs with application and communication services solutions. This role reports to the CTO and primary responsibilities for this role usually include:

Solution Strategy and Planning:

1.Developing strategies to address business challenges through technology and business solutions.

2.Working with stakeholders to understand their business needs and designing technology solutions that meet those needs.

3.Creating long-term plans for technology solutions that support business growth and efficiency.

Project Management:

1.Leading and managing the implementation of business solutions, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

2.Overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and strategies.

3.Coordinating with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

Stakeholder Engagement:

1.Serving as a point of contact between business leaders and IT or development teams.

2.Engaging with business leaders to gather requirements, define scope, and ensure that solutions are delivering expected outcomes.

3.Facilitating communication between departments to ensure that all parties are aligned on objectives and timelines.

Business Process Optimization:

1.Identifying opportunities for improving business processes and integrating automation or software solutions to streamline operations.

2.Assessing current business operations, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending new or improved software solutions.

Vendor and Partner Management:

1.Evaluating and selecting third-party vendors or solution providers to fulfill business needs.

2.Managing relationships with vendors and ensuring the proper delivery of solutions and services.

3.Negotiating contracts and ensuring service-level agreements (SLAs) are met.

Budget and Resource Management:

1.Overseeing the budget for business solutions and ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.

2.Ensuring that all projects are delivered within the financial constraints set by the organization.

Risk Management:

1.Identifying potential risks associated with implementing new business solutions and developing mitigation strategies.

2.Ensuring that any risks related to technology solutions, such as data security or system downtime, are managed proactively.

Training and Change Management:

1.Leading efforts to train staff on new systems, tools, or processes.

2.Supporting change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new solutions across the organization.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

1.Monitoring the effectiveness of implemented solutions and tracking their performance against business goals.

2.Providing regular updates and reports to senior management on the progress and success of business solutions.

Continuous Improvement:

1.Continuously assessing the effectiveness of implemented solutions and recommending enhancements or adjustments as needed.

2.Staying up-to-date with technological advancements and industry trends to ensure the organization benefits from the latest solutions.

These responsibilities will vary based on the CTO participation but generally focus on ensuring that technology solutions effectively support business operations and goals.


A successful candidate would have expertise in application development(web front ends, apis and databases), MS SQL databases and cloud technologies.
