General Manager, Asset Integrity - Industrial Construction Projects

Reports to: Vice President of Operations / Executive Leadership

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The General Manager of Asset Integrity will lead the asset integrity division for industrial construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and longevity of all physical assets, including equipment, infrastructure, and facilities, across various projects. The GM will develop and implement asset management strategies, oversee inspection and maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
  • Lead and manage the Asset Integrity team, including engineers, inspectors, and technicians, to ensure the effective implementation of asset integrity programs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and executive leadership to align asset integrity initiatives with overall project goals.
  • Develop and manage the asset integrity department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
  • Asset Integrity Strategy and Implementation:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve asset integrity management systems (AIMS) for all industrial construction projects.
  • Establish and enforce asset integrity policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the safe and reliable operation of all assets.
  • Oversee the development of risk-based inspection (RBI) and maintenance programs to maximize asset performance and minimize downtime.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all asset integrity activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines (e.g., OSHA, ASME, API, ISO).
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead incident investigations related to asset integrity failures, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Project Management and Execution:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and close-out of asset integrity projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate asset integrity considerations into project designs and schedules.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of assets, providing recommendations for improvements and upgrades as needed.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for asset integrity matters, liaising with clients, contractors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present asset integrity reports, findings, and recommendations to senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, service providers, and industry bodies to stay current with best practices and emerging trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in asset integrity management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the industrial construction sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of asset integrity management systems, risk-based inspection techniques, and relevant industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, ISO).
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale industrial projects, with a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Certifications such as Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA), Professional Engineer (PE), or similar are highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • The position is primarily office-based, with regular visits to project sites, both domestic and international.
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet with clients, attend industry conferences, and oversee remote projects.
  • The role may involve working in industrial environments, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
