Our client, a leading technology company that provides solutions for industrial batteries in the energy and motive industries, is seeking a talented and experienced Proposal Manager / Sales Operations Analyst to join their sales and commercial team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing winning proposals, coordinating contracts, and ensuring a seamless hand-off to the operations team for execution.


This role involves the introduction and implementation of all necessary proposal procedures and governance. As a highly networked position, the Proposal Manager will interface internally with sales, marketing, operations, finance, and legal teams, as well as externally with customers and vendors. The ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines is essential. As our client is a scale-up business, the selected candidate can expect a fast-paced, exciting learning environment during the early growth phase of the company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver compliant, professionally produced, winning, and profitable proposals within customer-defined timeframes.
  • Coordinate and review/edit proposal input from various stakeholders, including sales, marketing, operations, finance, legal, and vendors.
  • Contribute to achieving business financial goals (bookings, revenues, margins) through strategic project pricing and vendor selection.
  • Participate in industry events.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial and operations management.
  • Experience in proposal and contract management.
  • Proficiency in supplier and sub-contractor evaluation, selection, and management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as coordinate and collaborate with a team.
  • Capability to research and develop solutions and compose customer responses.
  • Fast learner with the ability to manage multiple projects and objectives.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and able to follow directions and complete tasks as committed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work with customers.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Degree in a business management field, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Knowledge of battery standards, regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Proven track record in meeting project/program goals while maintaining quality, performance, schedule, and cost requirements.
  • Experience in project and people management.
  • Demonstrated success in customer-focused problem-solving.


Travel & Location:

  • The preferred location is in the Chicago area, but remote locations will be considered.
  • The position may involve up to 25% travel to customer sites, industry events, and more.
