We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive InfoSec/ DevSecOps Technical Recruiter specializing in Infrastructure, Security, and DevOps to join our team in Iselin, NJ.


Looking for an InfoSec/ DevSecOps Recruiter who has a combination of technical knowledge and recruiting expertise to effectively identify, attract, and assess candidates for DevSecOps resources.

Below are the key technical understanding /knowledge a DevSecOps recruiter should possess to identify the right resource:

1. Understanding of DevSecOps Principles

  • DevOps: Familiarity with DevOps practices such as Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Security Integration: Knowledge of how security is integrated into the DevOps process to form DevSecOps, including concepts like "shift-left" security, secure coding practices, and automated security testing.

2. Knowledge of Key DevSecOps Tools

A recruiter should have an understanding of the following categories of tools used in DevSecOps pipelines:

  • CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Travis CI.
  • Configuration Management: Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, AWS CloudFormation.
  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
  • Security Tools:
  • Static Application Security Testing (SAST): SonarQube, Checkmarx.
  • Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST): OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite.
  • Container Security: Twistlock, Aqua Security, Sysdig Secure.
  • Secret Management: HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager.
  • Vulnerability Scanning: Nessus, Qualys, Snyk.

3. Familiarity with Cloud Platforms and Security

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Cloud Security: Understanding cloud-native security best practices, IAM (Identity and Access Management), and tools such as AWS Shield, Azure Security Center, and Google Cloud Security Command Center.

4. Security Frameworks & Compliance

  • Knowledge of Compliance Standards: Understanding of frameworks and regulations like NIST, CIS, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and how they impact DevSecOps practices.
  • Security Best Practices: Knowledge of secure coding standards, data encryption, and incident response.

5. Programming/Scripting Knowledge

While a recruiter doesn’t need to code daily, a basic understanding of programming languages and scripting can be valuable:

  • Languages: Python, Ruby, Bash, Java, Go, etc.
  • Scripting for Automation: Basic familiarity with how scripts automate tasks in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., writing shell scripts for deployment).

6. Understanding of Networking & Security Protocols

  • Networking Concepts: Understanding of DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
  • Security Protocols: Knowledge of SSL/TLS, SSH, IPsec, and common encryption algorithms.

7. Experience with Containerization and Orchestration Security

  • Containers & Microservices: Knowledge of how security fits into containerized environments like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Orchestration Security: Understanding of Kubernetes security best practices, RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), and network policies.

8. Version Control Systems

  • Familiarity with tools like Git, GitHub, and GitLab, and how they integrate with DevSecOps processes to manage code versions and automate security testing.

9. Monitoring and Incident Response Tools

  • Monitoring: Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for monitoring system health and security.
  • Incident Response: Understanding of incident management and response tools like Splunk, Datadog, or PagerDuty, which are critical in handling security incidents.

10. Awareness of Emerging Trends in DevSecOps

  • Keeping up with emerging trends such as serverless security, artificial intelligence in security, and zero-trust architectures.

Soft Skills (Complementing Technical Knowledge):

  • Communication Skills: Effectively discussing technical requirements with hiring managers and candidates.
  • Industry Networking: Building relationships with security professionals at conferences and meetups.
  • Candidate Assessment: Evaluating candidates based on both technical proficiency and cultural fit.
