About the Project:

ALPA Construction is thrilled to spearhead the design and construction management of the Chicago Sky (WNBA) Practice Facility in Bedford Park, IL. This $38 million, 130,000 square foot facility features over 40,000 square feet of exclusive, state-of-the-art space for Chicago Sky players and staff. In partnership with The Village of Bedford Park, The Chicago Sky, and The Concord Group, we are delivering a project that not only meets the highest standards but also contributes to the advancement of women in sports.


Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Senior Project Engineer to join our Chicago office. In this pivotal role, you will provide technical leadership and oversight across various engineering aspects of our projects, particularly the Chicago Sky Practice Facility. Working closely with senior project managers and assistant project managers, you will ensure the successful delivery of this high-profile project, from inception through completion.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical leadership and oversee all engineering aspects of the project.
  2. Develop and review complex technical solutions, ensuring they meet project requirements and standards.
  3. Coordinate closely with architects and design teams to integrate engineering solutions seamlessly.
  4. Lead quality control processes, ensuring all engineering work meets or exceeds industry standards.
  5. Mentor and guide the Project Engineer, fostering professional growth and development.
  6. Review and approve engineering submittals, RFIs, and other critical project documents.
  7. Conduct value engineering studies to optimize project outcomes.
  8. Liaise with local authorities on technical matters to ensure regulatory compliance.
  9. Develop and maintain technical standards for the project, ensuring consistency and quality.
  10. Analyze and resolve complex engineering issues that may arise during construction.
  11. Oversee the commissioning and integration of systems, ensuring they function as intended.
  12. Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes and regulations.


Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  3. 8-12 years of experience in construction engineering, with 3-5 years in a senior role on large public projects.
  4. Advanced proficiency in Procore, CAD, and BIM software.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  6. Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and construction methods specific to sports facilities.
