Position Summary: We are currently seeking a Senior Field Engineer who will report directly to the Project Resident Engineer. This role involves overseeing project construction inspection and documentation for a significant transit station and substation construction initiative, while also managing a team of Field Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections and maintain comprehensive documentation of all construction activities.
  • Ensure a clear understanding of construction contracts and accurately calculate pay estimates.
  • Review and maintain daily reports generated by Field Engineers, ensuring all paperwork is filed and processed correctly.
  • Familiarize oneself with specifications and shop drawings relevant to the project.
  • Oversee the implementation of an organized filing system for project documentation.
  • Log and track incoming daily progress reports, ensuring alignment with contractor submittals and as-built drawings.
  • Prepare documentation for time and material changes as necessary.
  • Assist Field Engineers with contract specifications and drawing research when required.
  • Ensure timely submission of quality control tests and inspection records, and coordinate corrective actions with contractors when needed.
  • Perform additional field engineering tasks as assigned by the Project Resident Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • Safety and quality-oriented mindset.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documentation and project filing systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word; familiarity with database programs is a plus.
  • Experience with software tools such as eBuilder, PlanGrid, and LoadSpring.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with project team members.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.

Educational Requirements: A degree in a construction-related, technical, or engineering field is preferred. Candidates with relevant education, training, and experience may also be considered. A minimum of five years of experience in building construction and engineering, specifically in field inspection on substantial projects, is required.
