Information Technology Field Technician

The Field Tech will provide Tier 2 level IT support for personnel within the organization, with added emphasis on the business unit at which they will be based. The Field Tech will assist in all areas of IT support, with special emphasis on Tier 2 level IT support in their assigned area as well as other areas as needed, including advanced desktop/laptop support and network connectivity support, and server-based application support. The Field Tech will actively facilitate outstanding customer service levels, as well as understanding and adherence to the policies and procedures of the Information Technology department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support and guidance to end-users. Provide Tier 2 level technical support on complex computer hardware/software (desktops, laptops, peripherals) and network connectivity for users throughout ADTI, including performance of on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex IT service requests, enhancing the customer service experience with first call resolution and reduction in overall SLA.
- System Maintenance: Ensure the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of computer systems, software and networks.
- Policy Implementation: Enforce IT policies and best practices within the organization.
- Coordinate with and assist the Field Tech Manager and his/her team as required in maintaining servers, storage and other systems in the datacenters.
- User Support: Provide technical support and training to users on how to use new hardware or software.
- Preparation of documentation, including accurately documenting technical issues and repairs for future reference.
- Security Management: Help as needed with the implementation of security measures to protect data and IT infrastructure.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of hardware and software, ensuring adequate supplies and timely upgrades.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current technology implementations within the business unit and organization, as well as stay current with current technical trends.
- Liaison as necessary with vendors as needed.
- Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical Proficiency: Thorough knowledge of computer systems, IT components, and networking.
- Troubleshooting: Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix issues.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively assist users and explain technical issues.
- Organizational Skills: Good time-management and organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, including analytical and problem-solving abilities, and ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Requires advanced ability in operating a computer, as well as typing skills, and knowledge of network hardware/software and connectivity, Windows networks, and Microsoft Office.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Approximately 20% required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
