PROGRAM MANAGER


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, as the Scientific Program Manager you will facilitate and track the development of requirements for data science research projects. The Scientific Program Manager supports the creation of research project plans, creates project timelines, ensures adherence to timelines, facilitates communication among research project teams, and collaborates closely with stakeholders.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports to Principal Investigator


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, build, and implement project management infrastructure for a research division.
  • Organize research team tasks and monitor progress. This may involve:
  • Having 1:1 meetings with data scientists.
  • Facilitating small group meetings between data scientists and subject matter experts.
  • Holding discussions with subject matter experts and team members to set reasonable timelines for projects.
  • Managing project timelines and ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Help data scientists and subject matter experts orchestrate the “Project Plan”.
  • Request input from subject matter expert collaborators (generation of concept design, approval of project plans, etc.).
  • Facilitate communication and sharing of data as it becomes available.
  • Facilitate communication among team members and other stakeholders, such as subject matter experts.
  • Schedule and attend internal and external meetings.
  • Create agendas for meetings and ensure that all points are addressed within the allotted meeting time.
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate meeting notes on major questions and action points.
  • Collate and document emails to verify that all questions are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that overall goals of projects in the portfolio are on track.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with program, project, or team management.
  • Research experience preferred.
  • BS/BA, MS/MA, or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., cancer, medicine, molecular biology, informatics, statistics, epidemiology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to move projects forward independently with moderate support.
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and collaborative research skills.
  • Close attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Passion for advancing healthcare research through creative use of data.
  • Experience with electronic medical record data or clinical databases preferred.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The employee must be a resident of Massachusetts upon start date.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
