Boston, United States Futures Without Violence Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: $97,500 annually

Location: Boston, MA, Washington DC, or San Francisco CA.

Status: Full-Time, Exempt, Grant-funded

Hybrid schedule: Minimum 2 days per week onsite

Futures Without Violence (FUTURES) is a national non-profit and social change organization that works to end gender-based violence and childhood adversity around the world. With offices in San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Boston, we’re a team of educators, strategists, trainers and grassroots organizers who develop policies and programs that change social norms, prevent violence and create the conditions and experiences that children and adults need to thrive.

We are hiring a Program Manager to join our Children and Youth team. The Program Manager (PM) will provide program development, implementation and training support. The PM must be located (and reside near) a FUTURES’ office location.

**Due to COVID-19, FUTURES is requiring employees to provide proof of full vaccination. The position will be a combination of in-office and remote work based on FUTURES current hybrid work policy, which requires employees to be onsite 50% time.**

Overview:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager (PM) will play an important role in one of our signature projects, Promising Futures.  Promising Futures is both a National Capacity Building Center and a growing federally funded grantee program that helps build capacity to support children and their families who are impacted by domestic violence. The Promising Futures team provides support and thought partnership to states, tribes and local grantees and to the larger national audience of domestic violence advocates and child serving organizations.

  • Our work involves mobilizing community innovations to prevent violence and support healing and outcomes for children, their families and communities.
  • Our goal is to create the conditions and experiences that lay the foundation for children and their families to thrive.
  • Our aim is to drive meaningful, large-scale change using the power of storytelling, distributive leadership, strategic communications, and social action.

The PM will work closely with the Promising Futures team and provide guidance to grantee organizations to support them in their respective project implementation and evaluation efforts. The team is looking for someone committed to social justice, racial and gender equity, continuous learning, and teamwork. In addition to the skills identified below, a successful candidate is someone who embraces ongoing experiences of collective learning and unlearning, takes a collaborative approach to problem-solving, promotes solutions, and has a sense of humor. We provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to support the candidate’s growth and leadership.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct support, guidance and training to community organizations, states and other professionals in the domestic violence and child serving fields.
  • Lead the development and delivery of new (virtual and in-person) training and education materials, web-based resources, podcasts, and tools as defined by program goals and priorities.
  • Facilitate group-based coaching and/or learning communities.
  • Coordinate and provide education and training to grantees and the larger national network of domestic/sexual/child abuse prevention organizations.
  • Represent FUTURES at relevant stakeholder meetings, conferences and coalitions.
  • Work closely with the Promising Futures national evaluation team team.
  • Collect and analyze data and generate reports as needed.
  • Manage program and event (virtual and in person) planning and implementation.
  • Mentor administrative staff with potential to supervise in the future.
  • Build and maintain trustworthy and authentic partnerships with a broad range of collaborators, (survivors, professionals, funders, etc.) to mobilize social action and change.
  • Research innovative partner and event engagement strategies to amplify the team’s reach and impact.
  • Stay current on research related to domestic violence and children’s exposure to violence.
  • Support grant management activities, including proposal development and grant reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Some travel is required (with expenses paid by the organization).

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and related work and or lived experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in direct service, project management, evaluation, or research.
  • Content and practice expertise in domestic/sexual/youth violence prevention and intervention.
  • Skilled approaches to project management and event planning. Able to effectively plan, organize and manage complex projects/events to achieve predefined goals and outcomes.
  • A design mindset that centers the needs and interests of the intended audience.
  • Ability to collaborate with our policy team to translate lived and field experiences into policy goals and recommendations.
  • Experience in training and meeting facilitation, program development & implementation, and meaningful collaborations.
  • Ability to operationalize anti-oppression values and principles and center race and gender equity in their approaches to collaboration and execution of job responsibilities.
  • Capacity for self-reflection and team collaboration to improve our collective work to undo racism, sexism, transphobia and other forms of oppression.
  • Experience providing technical assistance and/or training on domestic, sexual, or youth violence prevention, and/or children experiencing violence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills along with demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of people, e.g., policymakers, funders, practitioners, and parent and child survivors.
  • Superior attention to detail and command of contemporary computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, Zoom meeting and other web-based meeting platforms and/or customer-relationship management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce.
