Our client is a privately held, growth oriented aerospace and defense company in Anaheim CA.

As the Senior CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for translating engineering designs and specifications into machine code instructions for computer numerical control (CNC) machines. You will play a key role in optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.


Responsibilities:

  1. Programming and Setup: Develop CNC programs using software based on engineering drawings, models, and specifications. Set up and configure CNC machines for production runs, including tooling selection and fixture design.
  2. Optimization: Continuously optimize CNC programs and machining processes to improve efficiency, cycle time, and tool life while maintaining quality standards.
  3. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow.
  4. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Conduct inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
  5. Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of CNC programs, tooling configurations, and production parameters. Update records to reflect process changes and improvements.
  6. Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior CNC programmers and machine operators. Share knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in CNC machining. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.


Requirements:

  1. Education: Certifications in CNC programming or machining are desirable.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC programming and machining operations, with demonstrated proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM) and CNC machine setup.
  3. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of machining principles, tool geometry, cutting parameters, and G-code programming. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and experience with multi-axis machining is highly desirable.
  4. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex engineering drawings and models, identify critical dimensions and tolerance requirements, and translate them into efficient machining strategies.
  5. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and production personnel.
  6. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  7. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality machined components with tight tolerances.
  8. Team Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring and coaching junior team members. Ability to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
