Overview:

The Director of Environmental Health and Safety serves as the primary environmental and safety leader for 6 manufacturing locations with 750 employees. This role has organization-wide impact and is an effective leader and change-agent within the Safety function and across the organization. The Director of Environmental Health and Safety develops, directs and implements programming necessary to create a culture of safety and environmental compliance. This role is responsible for the management of a comprehensive EHS system that controls cost and risk associated with environmental compliance, sustainability, health and safety.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide training on first aid, CPR, OSHA regulations, and workers' compensation laws to employees at all levels.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes; prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with management to develop training programs that enhance employee awareness of safety practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding environmental health and safety concerns; provide guidance on best practices.
  • Stay updated on changes in EHS regulations and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance.


Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field is preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in a EHS
  • Leadership experience required
  • Experience in manufacturing or similar environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, workers' compensation law, and root cause analysis techniques is essential.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop effective training materials for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using software tools for data management related to EHS activities.
