Energy Efficiency Adviser

Location: New Jersey (must be a NJ resident)


Job Overview:

The Energy Efficiency Adviser is responsible for promoting energy efficiency programs through outreach and education, aimed at customers, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, engineers, architects, and others involved in energy efficiency services or equipment. The role involves managing relationships with trade allies, developing projects, and representing the organization at industry events.


Key Responsibilities:


Relationship Management:

Foster relationships with trade allies to maximize the number and size of submitted projects.

Develop projects directly with customers and manage leads in a CRM database.


Project Oversight:

Oversee projects submitted by customers and trade allies, working with a Project Coordinator to gather necessary information.

Validate and review project workbooks, ensuring technical accuracy and making adjustments as needed.


Customer Outreach:

Conduct outreach to new and existing customers to achieve assigned energy-saving targets.

Make site visits to discuss energy efficiency opportunities and provide advice to building owners, property managers, and facility engineers.


Technical Support and Analysis:

Identify on-site energy efficiency opportunities, and collaborate with Energy Engineers as needed.

Manage data entry for energy savings calculations and project tracking in spreadsheets and databases.


Presentation and Reporting:

Develop and deliver program presentations to encourage project activity.

Provide written summary reports for customers and the client/Program Manager as required.


Field Work:

Conduct site visits, which may involve standing, walking, climbing, or kneeling for extended periods.

Adhere to safety and health policies during site visits, with potential exposure to varying environmental conditions.


Job Skills:

Ability to communicate technical information to individuals of varying skill levels.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and clients simultaneously.

Problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, with occasional overnight stays within NJ.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record are required, with responsibility for vehicle maintenance and fees.


Preferred Skills:

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or related field.

Certifications: Certified Energy Auditor (Commercial) designation.

Experience: Experience in commercial/industrial energy efficiency, technical sales, or construction industry sales.


Experience & Education Minimums:

Education: B.A. or B.S. in Business or Technical field, or 5+ years of relevant experience.

Experience: At least 1 year of experience in energy efficiency or related products, working with utilities, government, non-profits, or public agencies.
