Andover, United States SNI Technology Full time

Business Systems Analyst is a business engagement orientated role that works in partnership with business and IT teams to elicit, document, validate, and manage what a business values most from IT. This is an engagement orientated role that works closely with end-users, functional analysts, and project team members to ensure requirements are:

  • Understood and approved
  • Are feasible from a business and/or technical perspective
  • Are testable/measurable
  • Meet a business need

To achieve this goal, the Business Systems Analyst will translate business requirements to determine functional/technical requirements, process flows, data models/dictionaries, change management requirements, and provide domain expertise to support a business area at Andover. Your technical acumen must be sufficient to elicit, document, communicate, and validate requirements that are consistent with the business need for a software engineering team to implement.

Your role provides an opportunity to work on non-technical business improvement requirements that drive changes within your assigned business area without the use of technology. You must have an attention to detail and be customer focused to ensure the business need is effectively addressed by the IT organization.

Essential Functions

  • Interpret and document technical and functional requirements presented by Subject Matter Experts that involve the use or change to technology.
  • Ensure that specification deliverables are “business friendly” and ultimately implemented within the solution in such a way that they resolve a business need.
  • Apply knowledge and experience with technology and application development methodologies to write qualified requirements including Acceptance Criteria.
  • Identify through analysis a test case that when successfully executed against a developed or configured application satisfies a functional requirement.
  • Guide test case writing to ensure requirements traceability.
  • Collate test case data and provide quality assurance reports for the solutions you are assigned to support.
  • Serve as a key resource to the business for all facets of improving the use of technology and process workflow including triage of production support issues where required.
  • Provide knowledge and experience leading meetings, small projects, and practice of Agile SCRUM including the explanation of abstract topics such as data modeling, system design, integration of systems, and feasibility of technical solutions to meet a business need.
  • Monitor insurance systems proactively to address technical issues before business impacts.
  • Manage business issues and risks through problem and change management forums.
  • Review technical analysis and specification methods for best practices and recommend changes to enhance quality of work products where applicable.
  • Research, recommend, evaluate solutions that meet a business need regardless of the use of technology when requested.
  • Act as a dedicated IT partner for the business area you are assigned and actively promote the improved use of technology, root cause analysis, and process re-engineering.
  • Establish a relationship based upon trust that improves the impact of IT on what our business partners value most.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies / KSA’s

  • Work through root-cause analysis, process re-engineering, and change management topics.
  • Perform their role with minimal guidance and be comfortable with a team-based matrix reporting relationship.

This job requires certain knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:

  • Use of Microsoft Office, JIRA, Visio/Lucid chart, and other documentation tools to define and analyze process requirements.
  • Investigative analysis tactics on business requirements that you translate into User Stories within JIRA and assist in their refinement to a playable story.
  • Understand the current and future state of a department’s needs with suggested improvements that you champion and lead around the use of technology related to core systems and customer facing portals.
  • Excellent verbal & written communications skills to explain Business System Analysis concepts and relate them to Software Development processes, Agile ceremonies, and Continuous Improvement.
