Steel Dynamics, Inc. announced its entry into the flat-rolled aluminum market with a revolutionary 650,000 tonne per year facility in Columbus, Mississippi. Aluminum Dynamics is SDI’s first aluminum facility that is projected to start up in 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to be on the ground floor of this new market for SDI. This position will start simultaneously with the start of construction of this multi-billion-dollar facility, providing the unique opportunity to help design and implement the network infrastructure, systems, and procedures required by the mill. The Network Engineer will play an integral role in the design and implementation of all systems implemented in this new business. The Network Engineer performs various tasks in deploying and maintaining all network, server, backup, and other IT infrastructure. Coordinate with the Infrastructure team to implement SOPs including Disaster Recovery. The Network Engineer will work with the IT Manager and other IT Support Staff to support the mill operations.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations.
  • Implement and manage network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, viruses, and data breaches.
  • Conduct regular network performance analysis and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with the IT team and other departments to support network-related projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users regarding network issues and best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in network technology.



Qualifications

Required:

  • 3 years’ hands-on experience implementing network infrastructure, project management, design, configuration, installation, and maintenance.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining a Microsoft Windows server environment.
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow your skillset.
  • Ability to take guidance and work in a group environment to achieve goals.
  • B.S. Computer Science, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Scripting Languages
  • Familiarity working with industrial processes / networks.
  • Familiarity managing a VMWare infrastructure and Fortinet.
  • Familiarity with SAN’s and ISCSI
  • CCNA or CCNP
