POSITION SUMMARY


Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Technology Officer leads the company’s product development, engineering and IT departments. The primary responsibilities are to optimize PRC-Saltillo’s utilization of technology in achieving its goals and objectives. This includes fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in both the development of customer-oriented products and the internal systems the company uses.


The CTO will oversee the Product Development Team (14), the Engineering Team (41) and the IT Team (10)


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Technical Vision and Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive technology roadmap that supports the company's business goals and objectives. Curate a culture of innovation and be a strong influencer. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in medical device software and firmware development.


Product Development: Ensure that product strategies and road maps leverage technology effectively to address market needs such as functionality, pricing, and durability. Increase focus on strategic planning and innovation to drive organizational growth and improvement. Proactively develop innovative strategies and solutions by embarking and developing Artificial Intelligence into our products with custom end-to-end design for our customers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing product maintenance.


Engineering Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive technical roadmap aligned with organizational objectives, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge. You will incorporate best practices across engineering teams, and guide architecture decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and alignment with long-term goals. Optimize the engineering team structure and processes for maximum efficiency, ensuring the right skills and expertise are in place to deliver on strategic objectives. Establish metrics and benchmarks to measure engineering performance and product quality, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. A key aspect of your role will be attracting, retaining, and developing top technical talent, encouraging a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.


IT Leadership: Drives the development and execution of forward-thinking IT strategies and policies that propel organizational success. Spearheads the adoption of innovative technologies to enhance work performance, data analysis, and business continuity. Oversees the architecture of IT systems and processes, ensuring alignment with stringent security requirements and operational efficiency goals. Collaborates with leadership to identify opportunities for technology-driven growth and improvement.


Team Management: Build, lead, and mentor stakeholders from engineering and web development. Foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment that encourages technical growth and innovation.


Partnerships and Collaborations: Build strategic partnerships with technology vendors, research institutions, and other relevant organizations to advance our technology capabilities.


Budgeting and ROI: Oversee technology budgets to achieve maximum ROI. Conduct cost-benefit analyses and make financially informed technology investment decisions.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for medical device
  • Oversight of the IT, Engineering and Product Development departmental budgets, including working with teams to prioritize annual and capital projects.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, identifying opportunities to integrate these technologies into our products
  • Collect, analyze and interpret complex data sets to uncover key patterns and trends to optimize business processes, enhance customer experiences and to identify new revenue streams
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our technical infrastructure



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in software and firmware development
  • Success in cultivating innovation into product development and engineering
  • At least 10 years overseeing large software development teams on multiple projects
  • Deep experience with data science / analytics
  • Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role, such as CTO, VP of Engineering, or similar
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and life cycles
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Exceptional mentoring and coaching skills with proven success in building teams with a cohesive theme and strong cross functional teamwork
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
