About the Role:
The Production Planning Manager is a proactive, motivated leader known for cultivating relationships, overseeing projects from inception to delivery, and excelling in communication. Key duties involve interpreting demand signals from various channels to create a production timetable aligning with customer needs and optimizing efficiency. This role fosters collaborative partnerships with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless production flow. Additionally, the manager mentors and oversees other planners across the organization. Adaptable and visionary, this manager thrives on identifying opportunities that advance organizational objectives.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and lead S&OP meetings focused on supporting customers and enhancing plant profitability.
Collaborate closely with the sales team to prioritize tasks based on demand signals, sales trends, and policies.
Develop production schedules to maintain optimal inventory levels while considering staffing, machine capacity, and production efficiencies.
Assess SKU demand allocations and formulate site production schedules based on current business requirements, site capacities, and special equipment needs.
Analyze and adjust key item-level system replenishment settings to ensure appropriate inventory levels, including minimum ship quantities and production thresholds.
Supervise a team of production planners to implement planning strategy across designated locations.
Provide cross-functional leadership to resolve demand-related issues arising from forecast inaccuracies, demand constraints, or unforeseen promotional opportunities.
Collaborate with plant leadership to align production schedules with budgetary constraints.
Maintain regular communication with manufacturing leaders and make necessary adjustments to production schedules.
Notify key stakeholders promptly of any exceptional circumstances that may impact service delivery.
Mentor and develop team members within the planning organization by sharing best practices and transferring knowledge.
Offer timely analysis, guidance, and decision-making support to Sales and Operations teams to ensure effective execution of the operational forecast.
Generate and distribute monthly and weekly demand forecasts to key stakeholders, highlighting significant changes and underlying assumptions.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- 3 years of experience related to: SAP, Inventory control, Customer EDI / Material planning, and JIT Automotive manufacturing
- MRP/Scheduling
- Automotive OEM experience
