Crisis Police Response Clinician

If so, consider joining the Justice and Crisis Response Unit at Behavioral Health Response (BHR) as a Crisis Police Response Clinician (C-PRC).


Our C-PR Clinicians ride with a St. Louis Police Officer(s) to respond directly to 911 calls, 911 diversion needs, and/or community encounters to provide effective and appropriate crisis intervention services to individuals in the St. Louis area. Utilizing your skills and knowledge, you will support the client with assessment and referral services, behavioral health education and support, brief solution-focused treatment, de-escalation, psychological first aid, and follow-up services. You will develop an individualized, comprehensive treatment plan to assist client in establishing necessary mental health services, including provisional diagnosis and thorough suicide risk assessment.


This is a hybrid office-field position, with the majority of time spent riding in a car and in the field. At times, the work environment can be high-stress and include potentially dangerous situations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related field.
  • 6 months experience in mental health field within the private or public sector.
  • Working knowledge of the St. Louis Area Mental Health Network, the Crisis Intervention Model, and the DSM-V.
  • Able to work at least 1 weekend day - our work week is either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday.
  • Valid driver's license (MO Class E or state equivalent). Motor Vehicle Record check will be conducted prior to start date.
  • Willingness to meet any/all regulatory requirements of our partners, including vaccinations and background checks.
  • Possess a client centered and community focused approach consistent with behavioral health professional’s ethics and principles.
