Police Cadet

Join the St. Louis County Police Department as a Police Cadet and embark on a rewarding career in law enforcement. As a cadet, you will gain valuable experience and skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

The Police Cadet program is designed to provide a comprehensive and unique law enforcement training program. Cadets will receive paid work exposure to an extensive array of Department resources in each of the Department's Divisions. This includes riding-on-patrol with each of the eight County Police Precincts, working within the various work units, such as the Bureau of Communications, the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy, the Personnel Services Unit, and the Fingerprint Unit.

• Perform clerical duties, including recordkeeping, answering telephones, data processing, and filing.
• Greet citizen walk-ins and provide general information about the Police Department.
• Identify the scope of a citizen complaint or contact and provide referral to the appropriate resource.
• Fingerprint individuals in support of the Private Security Unit.
• Participate in formalized training courses and programs as assigned.
• Assist with parking enforcement and traffic control at special events.
• Assist in processing and storing evidence, storage inventory, and control of department supplies (Property Control Unit).
• May perform desk duties, including telecommunications (telephone, computer terminal, radio), assisting persons at the counters of the precinct stations, processing reports.
• Prepare clear, accurate, and complete reports on any and all activities engaged in.

• Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED).
• Enrolled or anticipating enrolling in an accredited university or college, or at least 33 college credit hours from an accredited university or college.
• Must be between the ages of 18 and 21 years old.
