Architectural Drafter

DRAFTER/AUTOCAD TECHNICIAN NEEDED IN JACKSONVILLE, FL - MUST LIVE IN THE JACKSONVILLE AREA, THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Drafter/CAD Technician will maintain accurate base plans using the company’s current computer-aided design software to draft accurate working floorplans incorporating customized changes to meet production requirements of company within the standards, policies and procedures set out by company guidelines by performing the following duties which include but are not limited to:

A. Maintain efficient and timely turnaround of accurate construction documents for production of Homes, i.e. specific plan drawings generated from Pre-start and Customer Option Forms via direction of the team leader

B. As needed, work with Sales, Marketing and Development to create a lot-fit matrix for new areas and additional phases of subdivisions that are developed.

C. As needed, work with Sales to create specific lot fits for homes that are not standard and require modification.

D. Assist with the acquisition of plot plans, survey drawings, truss engineering, energy calculations through an accountable system as requested by Company personnel.

E. Continue on-going process of plan revisions to all Company base plans as necessary to meet code compliance and an improved overall plan.

F. Maintain accurate records of revised construction details.

G. Maintain current plot files of our base plans for printing as required.

H. Work with Customer Relations Department, Product Development and Design Personnel and/or the Production Department as needed to create design changes of existing plans, add customized changes to existing, new or master plans and assist in the development of new plans as directed.

I. Keep current on software updates and equipment enhancements in order to maintain a state of the art department.

J. Archiving of plans as needed for call-up and retrieval.

K. Facilitate in the positive growth of the Company Plans department by following policies and procedures, value engineering and time/cost efficiency methods.

L. Work closely with the other Plans Department staff members for the highest quality and most efficient output.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Experience, Licenses or Certifications required)

A. Associate degree

B. Minimum 2-3 years AutoCAD experience, production homebuilding preferred.

• Create new construction drawings and revise existing construction drawings from design managers
• Prepare detailed drawings working from template or past drawings
• Read construction drawings and prepare drawings for staking and excavation
• Maintain database of drawings including project and site record drawings
• Updating of drawings database as new drawings are approved
• Create computer-generated drawings to include as-built and construction drawings
• Create details from assembly drawings
• Develop detailed design drawings and specifications
• Locating drawings and monitors the sign-out of drawings
• Create technical drawings and plans
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, construction drawings and other technical information
• Classify and organize engineering drawings
• Create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly drawings)
• Prepare detailed design drawings and complete drawing sets
• Digitizing existing drawings and incorporating as-built information into base drawings
• Prepare electrical systems drawings such as floor plan layouts, riser diagrams, electrical interconnections drawings and installation termination drawings
• Check production drawings and other BOM
• Modify 1-line drawings, power distribution layout drawings, electrical facility layout drawings, electrical machine control drawings, HVAC control drawings, ammonia control system drawings, control panel
• Prepare working drawings that are project
