Job Description


A Fortune 500 client is looking for an SMT Failure Analysis Engineer on their site in Richardson, TX. This client is leading company in the Aerospace and Defense, communications, enterprise healthcare, industrial, capital equipment and energy industries to deliver solutions for their most complex challenges in manufacturing hardware solutions. This Engineer will be responsible for: • Analyze test results and test measurements for devices failing manufacturing test; characterize each to quantify symptoms and sort with similarly failing devices as daily failure pareto. • Confirm failure mode symptoms and characteristics including visual inspection, ABA swap, reseat connectors, initial board troubleshooting, etc. • Document findings, observations, and test results on a per-failure basis to support root cause/corrective action investigations and meet customer non-conformance reporting requirements • Report out daily yield rates, failure pareto, analysis findings, and process improvement plan action/updates as part of daily operational meetings · Actively manage repair inventory to support daily build objectives and repair inventory reduction plan, including o Execute non-clean room (PCBA) or clean room disassembly/reassembly per work instructions to isolate failure and recover devices o Prescribe and record the repair or next analysis steps to be executed (e.g. clean room / PCBA next actions) o Enforcement of rework processes and test routing, as well as optimization to improve repair efficiency and reduce material scrap. o Report out rework status and execution daily, including inventory status (volume/reason) daily repair pareto and repair throughput · Summarize and present suspected defective material and systems for disposition through weekly Material Review Board · Disassemble device to analyze or replace non conformant assembly · Diagnose subassemblies on subassembly tester, IQC tester, or with known good unit using development diagnostic tools · isolate PCBA or subassembly defect to specific component to enable replacement, rework, and process improvements · Perform selective rework of ICs or other electronic components · Be able to write rework instructions clearly for the line to be able to effectively replace and record changes on the line. This role will function fully onsite at the clients Richardson, TX location.
