Description of Position: To serve as Writer/Editor and a principle strategist within the Commander’s Action Group (CAG) at United States Space Command (USSPACECOM), responsible for providing research, information and advice on Space Forces, its missions and posture to ensure the USSPACECOM Commander (CDR), Deputy Commander (DCOM), and Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) are most effective and best prepared to lead a force dispersed across multiple countries as a Global Combatant Command.


Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Expert in functional area, directing activities on innovative program development with only general guidance
  • Lead researcher, analyst, senior speech writer, editor, and proofreader for a variety of correspondence and deliverables
  • Represents and prepares USSPACECOM CDR for meetings and conferences with senior USG officials, senior executives outside USG, subordinate organizations, etc.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and executes internal and external communication strategies and programs promoting CDR priorities, objectives, mission, and vision


Key Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of grammar, writing, editing, style and research analysis and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of military processes and doctrine, including USSPACECOM Strategic Vision, CONOPs, Business Rules, Joint Policies and Procedures.
  • Intermediate knowledge of space principles and ability to research and articulate the evolving space domain and space resources.
  • Ability to interpret and explain a variety of complex subjects and skills to analyze and present the information in a manner appropriate for the intended audience with little or no guidance.
  • Ability to negotiate and gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.


Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) in performing: Speech writing/editing, proofreading at an intermediate level, policy and strategy development through innovation, research, and analysis, and executive communication.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Position requires drug testing.
  • Occasional travel away from the regular duty location may be required.
  • May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
