Job Summary and Responsibilities


This Construction Supervisor will be responsible for managing and overseeing multiple OSP construction and maintenance projects from initiation to completion within a designated geographic or customer area. This role involves developing project plans, managing schedules, supervising project execution, and ensuring that materials, equipment, and budgets are effectively handled. The Supervisor will work closely with both internal teams and external vendors, and will also be responsible for direct reports and vendor performance. Travel requirements may reach up to 75%, depending on project needs.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee daily activities for various OSP construction projects.
  • Plan, organize, and direct construction and maintenance work for structures, facilities, and systems involved in OSP projects.
  • Prepare and submit project performance requirements, material needs, timing details, budget estimates, and other operational documents to support company proposals and quotes.
  • Develop and submit proposals and quotes.
  • Assess construction methods and evaluate cost-effectiveness.
  • Schedule project tasks logically and allocate time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Review project specifications to identify appropriate construction methods and requirements.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses.
  • Manage and track inventory, including tools, vehicles, equipment, and supplies.
  • Determine labor needs and work with Human Resources to recruit, hire, or reassign staff to ensure proper staffing.
  • Supervise and direct employees and vendors involved in daily OSP construction activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors and vendors for specialized project tasks, such as tower crews, splicing crews, and other trades.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual performance conditions set by clients.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, and prepare progress and cost tracking reports.
  • Track project progress, make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines and regulatory requirements, and prepare progress reports.
  • Address and resolve issues related to damage, accidents, emergencies, and delays.
  • Collaborate with employees, vendors, clients, architects, and design professionals to address work procedures, complaints, and construction issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety and quality programs, and manage projects according to safety regulations.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and enforce safety and quality guidelines.
  • Regularly review project progress and manage risks effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to quality construction standards and proper techniques.
  • Hire both full-time and temporary labor as needed for projects.
  • Approve employee timecards, time off requests, and expense reports.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Perform additional duties as required.


Safety Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote compliance with federal and local occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Follow industry consensus standards and the Company Injury and Illness Prevention Program Manual.
  • Participate in job site safety and hazard analyses.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of OSP construction experience or equivalent education and training.
  • A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in managing people and projects is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of customer service and quality control.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to interact effectively at all levels within a large organization and with customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership and self-awareness.
