Job Summary:

The Commercial Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of commercial construction projects from initiation through completion. This role involves managing project schedules, budgets, and resources, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget. The Project Manager will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all project objectives are met.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Development:
  • Lead the project planning process, including defining project scope, creating detailed project schedules, and developing budgets.
  • Work with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to finalize design plans and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that outline key milestones, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Project Execution and Management:
  • Oversee all aspects of construction, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure efficient and effective execution of project tasks.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure quality control, and address any issues that arise.
  • Budget and Cost Control:
  • Manage project budgets, including preparing cost estimates, tracking expenses, and ensuring financial efficiency.
  • Monitor and control project costs to prevent budget overruns, and identify cost-saving opportunities where possible.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and clients.
  • Scheduling and Timeline Management:
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time.
  • Identify potential delays and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, labor schedules, and equipment needs to align with project timelines.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:
  • Ensure that all construction activities meet or exceed industry standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication to provide project updates and address any concerns.
  • Manage client expectations and ensure that all project deliverables meet their needs.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other consultants to resolve design and construction issues.
  • Risk Management and Problem Solving:
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction, including technical challenges and disputes with subcontractors.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and properly maintained.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and motivate project teams, including project engineers, superintendents, and subcontractors.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve team performance.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial construction project management.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, methods, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification is preferred.
