  • Position Status: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Responsibilities

Here’s what to expect as a Development Specialist:

  • Complete ongoing donor prospecting, research, and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain an individual giving program to build a base of annual agency support that is independent of special events and corporate support.
  • Define and deliver a corporate solicitation/major gift program that includes both special event support and overall agency program support that meets the interests and needs of the corporate donor.
  • Facilitate grant and foundation research and applications that support new and innovative programs, as well as ongoing operational needs.
  • Through effective Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) practices, ensure that community groups, community leaders, corporations, associations, organizations, donors, and key volunteers are engaged and retained for support of the UCP mission.
  • Develop, establish, and host a variety of cultivation events and regular donor/volunteer stewardship activities that bring people closer to the Agency, such as volunteer tours and events, networking events, and other specific donor cultivation programs.
  • Maintain, and/or execute a variety of special events that attract new and diverse audiences; and establish a process to cultivate, nurture, and grow event supporters.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of the digital media strategy for UCP.
  • Serve as a backup for maintaining the donor/volunteer database, recording gifts, ensuring timely receipt of gifts, invoicing when necessary, and coordinating gift reconciliation with the Fiscal Department.


Qualifications

Minimum requirements as a Development Specialist:

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification within a related area expected.
  • 2 to 5 years of previous job-related experience expected
  • Previous knowledge and/or experience with fundraising, donor relations, and appeal writing
  • 18 years of age
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Access to a vehicle with valid insurance, registration, and inspection
  • Ability to communicate, read, write, and interpret English

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience with marketing, communications, writing, fund development and donor management.
