Job Description
Our client is a construction subcontractor who is looking for Project Estimator for their team in Salt Lake City, UT. The Project Estimator is responsible for plan takeoffs, estimating costs, preparing project bids and budgets, and overseeing drywall project operations. This role involves collecting proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents to produce accurate cost estimates and manage project activities from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Obtain material, subcontractor, and engineering quotes from multiple vendors.
- Assist in vendor selection and coordinate materials and equipment.
- Prepare RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Prepare detailed proposals by reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid forms.
- Calculate material requirements using mathematical algorithms.
- Communicate with clients during the bidding phase and on project modifications.
- Support by addressing budget issues during initial stages.
- Assess budget and project profitability status.
- Visit assigned job sites, participate in, and conduct job meetings as required.
- Develop and coordinate construction project schedules.
- Price change requests and update the budget promptly.
- Track progress and spending, ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget.
- Perform labor control on assigned projects, adjusting as necessary to maximize profits.
- Coordinate warranties, O&M’s, and project closeout.
- Be accountable for job cost control measures through monthly financial projections.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Business, Accounting, or related field
- At least 2 years of experience in construction estimation and project management in drywall construction.
- Experience with estimating, project management, and managing specialty scopes of construction.
- Ability to analyze and process information, recognize critical areas impacting profitability, and navigate projects away from risks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Bluebeam, OnScreen Takeoff, and QuickBid.
- Strong oral and written communication, math skills, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a autonomously in a fastpaced environment, multitask, think critically, and solve problems.
