We are seeking an experienced and safety-minded Safety Manager. The successful candidate will handle employee emergency situations, as well as train employees on proper protocol and oversee emergency plans and response drills. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, the ability to work with a variety of different departments, an ability to stay calm when under pressure, and the ability to constantly improve workplace safety measures. This is a full-time position for our Georgetown facility.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assess safety training needs for new and existing coworkers
- Enter training data and run reports to ensure timely completion of OSHA required and SteelBlue specific training
- Provide monthly safety training and new hire safety training to coworkers
- Conduct periodic safety walk-throughs to evaluate safety risks and tracks corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities for these risks.
- Assists in the identification, development, and implementation of proactive programs designed to reduce injuries and illnesses.
- Act as member of the safety team.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
- Educational training in Safety or related field is preferred but not required
- 2+ years’ experience in safety department in manufacturing setting
- First aid, adult CPR and AED certified
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work both independently and as part of a team
