Job Title: Ski Patrol Foreman – Snow Safety - Internal Applicants Only

Type of Position: Full-time, Seasonal

Schedule: Four ten-hour days/week, includes weekends/holidays

Pay Rate: $27.00 – $31.00/hr., based on skills and experience.

Summary

To assist the Snow Safety Supervisor in assessing and forecasting all avalanche hazards at Loveland Ski Area. To document all avalanche mitigation and update all avalanche control documentation. To assist Snow Safety Supervisor in developing and supervising all explosives training. Assist the Snow Safety Supervisor in the training, scheduling, and supervision of all Ski Patrol avalanche mitigation operations. Develop and upgrade all Ski Patrol avalanche procedures and operations. Responsible for skier/snowboarder safety. Assist the Snow Safety Supervisor in maintaining inventory of all Avalanche mitigation equipment including repairs, refills, and replacement when needed. Perform the duties of the Snow Safety Supervisor in their absence. Perform certain duties of Ski Patrol Foreman as needed. Essential Functions

  • Assist with avalanche control planning and execution, directing control work to be performed in the absence of the Snow Safety Supervisor
  • Assist Snow Safety Supervisor with evaluating and recommending employees to be selected as control work route leaders
  • Monitor performance of patrollers and provides input to Snow Safety Supervisor, Patrol Director related to performance management, including evaluations, disciplinary action, promotions and assignment of special duties
  • Training of ski patrol skills and procedures
  • Skier Safety
  • Public relations and education
  • Performance of patroller/Ski Patrol Foreman duties
Requirements:

Requirements/Qualifications

  • H. S. diploma or equivalent education and/or experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in all aspects of ski patrolling.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician or Outdoor Emergency Care certifications
  • Be able to pass a FELC criminal background check and obtain a CDLE Type 1 Explosives Permit
  • Pro I Avalanche Certification
  • Have knowledge of explosives handling and storage, avalanche control, and search and rescue procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly (speak and understand) in English – verbal and written communications.
  • Bilingual is helpful
  • Expert level ski or snowboard ability
