Here at Wayfinder Biosciences, we’re developing a platform to discover new therapies for undruggable diseases like cancer and neurodegenerative disorders by targeting RNA and we’re looking for an experienced research associate to join our high-throughput screening team. You’ll help us pioneer new RNA technologies and establish Wayfinder as the premier drug discovery company for RNA-targeting small molecules. Ideal candidates will be highly-motivated self-starters who enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, applying best practices to collecting and interpreting large datasets, and streamlining operations to run labwork efficiently. What You’ll Do

  • Participate in the set up, monitoring, and analysis of our high-throughput screening assays.
  • Perform QC assays to ensure the screening platform is operating within acceptable limits.
  • Interact with wayfinder's liquid-handling automation, and analytical instrumentation.
  • Generate large screening datasets, organizing and adding them to Wayfinder’s growing database of quantitative RNA-drug interaction data.
  • Independently perform molecular biology laboratory procedures including PCR, DNA/RNA preparation, in vitro transcription, and more.
  • Coordinate laboratory equipment maintenance, supply inventory purchasing, and overall laboratory organization.
  • Analyze, interpret, and translate results into actionable and tangible findings.
  • Record thorough and detailed observation logs at every stage of experimentation.
  • Communicate with fellow researchers to accomplish goals.
  • Administer all processes and procedures in a compliant, professional, and comprehensive manner.

 

 

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
  • 2 years prior laboratory research experience in a biotech-related field
  • 2 years relevant industry experience
  • Curiosity, inquisitiveness, and a can-do attitude
  • Ablility to adapt to a highly dynamic startup environment
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Availability to work at Wayfinder’s laboratory located on the UW campus in Seattle, WA

 

 

Nice To Haves

  • Molecular Biology research experience
  • Experience with liquid handling automation and high-throughput screening
  • Published peer-reviewed studies

We are seed-stage startup using our proprietary sensor platform to identify small molecule therapies that target RNA. Wayfinder was founded in 2021 by 3 recent PhD graduates from University of Washington. We are located at Fluke Hall on the University of Washington campus, working inside the dynamic CoMotion Labs co-working lab space.
