TECHEAD is currently hiring for an Information Security Analyst in Roanoke, VA. The Information Security Analyst will assess information risk and help facilitate remediation of identified vulnerabilities with the client's network, systems and applications.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • 50% Monitor, analyze, detect, and report on the overall security of client’s data, systems, and networks.
  • 10% Network/Data Security: ensure compliance with industry best practices, regulations and client's Policy.
  • 10% Assist in the planning, implementation, and administration of the systems, technologies, policies, and procedures that ensure the integrity and reliability of data and information systems across the client.
  • 10% Performing vulnerability scans, analyze results, and recommend remediation strategies/solutions to resolve the findings throughout the environment.
  • 10% Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest industry developments as they relate to information security through trade and other technical publications, seminars, vendors, agencies, auditors and peers. Utilize this information to create and maintain the latest and most secure computing tools available while insuring the reliability of the enterprise.
  • 5% Prepare audit reports that identify gaps, gather requested information for use in IT audits.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Qualifications/Skills :

  • Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
  • Understanding of enterprise IT technologies and services, including network protocols, firewalls, and system architectures, especially as they relate to security.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of information systems security regulatory framework, compliance standards, and best practices.
  • Ability to discuss technical issues effectively with other data processing professionals as well as non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise with operation of enterprise IT security technologies - SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus/malware, media encryption
  • Ability to work and travel independently and use general office equipment, give speeches and make presentations.
  • Skill and ability to use and operate a keyboard (typewriter), computer, calculator, fax machine, copier and telephone. Skill and ability to read and understand financial statements, contracts, applications, computer printouts, manuals and other related materials. Must have the skill and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
