The IT Director is responsible for managing, developing, and implementing IT solutions to support business operations. This includes overseeing IT infrastructure, security, and digital transformation initiatives. Additional responsibilities include SOC 1 & SOC 2 control development and management, technology road mapping along with associated budgets, developing and managing processes and procedures and interfacing with all levels of the organization to determine technology needs.


Key Responsibilities:


IT Infrastructure Management:

  • Implement and manage IT infrastructure and initiatives, including hardware and software lifecycles, servers, facilities, security, and network (LAN/WAN).
  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert for all IT systems and applications, staying updated on industry trends.
  • Oversee the nationwide SDWAN network and ensure optimal network performance.
  • Collaborate with the application teams to publish release schedules and push releases to production.

Application / Vendor Security and Risk Management:

  • Develop the overall security strategy, identifying risks and appropriate responses.
  • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats, enforcing vendor contracts and SLAs.
  • Act as the primary cyber-security expert, staying updated on industry trends.
  • Maintain and update incident response (IR), disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity plans (BCP); lead related activities and committees.
  • Manage 3rd party MDR/SOC, vulnerability scans, risk assessments, and audits.
  • Schedule and monitor network penetration tests and mitigate high-risk findings.
  • Manage and innovate the security awareness program, including phishing and social engineering exercises.
  • Lead security evaluations for new and existing technologies and standardize security configurations.
  • Develop and enhance GRC and information security programs using a risk-based approach.
  • Review third-party contracts for security and data protection.

Employee Technical Support and Leadership:

  • Create and manage IT processes, procedures, and Policies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and users.
  • Ensure excellent response and resolution time to incidents; monitor open incidents and escalate/respond as appropriate.
  • Supervise, train, evaluate, and develop direct reports.
  • Direct the company’s digital transformation initiatives through IT Project Management.
  • Align IT with business needs and future growth.
  • Ensure continuous service improvement within the IT function.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the IT budget effectively.
  • Facilitate product research, recommendation, and installation of software, hardware, and network components.
  • Negotiate with vendors for cost-effective purchasing decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with all organizational levels to identify and meet technological needs.
  • Build effective relationships with management, staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with IT and corporate standards, policies, and procedures.


Requirements:


Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technology field; or equivalent experience of 10+ years with progressive career progression.
  • Experience managing a large, diverse IT infrastructure and applications operations in a hybrid environment.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry or companies a plus, but not required.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Office 365, VMware, Windows Domains, Red Hat/Centos Linux, cloud storage systems, EDR & MDR solutions, unified communications, and data backup systems and technology.
  • Experience with the design and implementation of ITIL processes.
  • Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture (EA).
  • Familiarity with FINRA, SOC 1 & SOC 2.
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, and microservices.

Certifications:

  • ITIL Foundation or higher certification, preferred.
  • CISM, CISSP, CISA certifications, preferred.

  • Effective relationship-building with management, staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Travel to offices by automobile within Houston or by airplane as required; less than 5% travel.
