Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with appropriate internal stakeholders, develops plan for continued updates to agency’s information systems and technology.
  • Determines how changes to workflows will affect the business goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Responds to inquiries and provides guidance to internal and external clients regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs.
  • Develops and communicates detailed specifications for implementation.
  • Produces reports, timelines, and graphics to communicate expectations and progress to management, customers, investors, and other relevant parties.
  • Maintains and ensures proper documentation and coordinates or performs testing of system modifications.
  • Researches and analyzes the nature, effect, and results of system difficulties.
  • Satisfies data sampling, project analysis, testing verification, and other user requests from existing client databases.
  • Maintains current understanding of industry standards, trends, and best practices through industry and other professional networks.
  • Creates, develops, provides, or coordinates system training, materials, and other educational tools.
  • Maintains the Agency’s information technology in a way that facilitates productivity and efficiency.
  • Provides technical service and support to internal users which may include maintaining hardware and software and providing training.
  • Identifies hardware, equipment, and software needs for the Agency’s information systems; recommends and facilitates upgrades and replacements.
  • Oversees and facilitates the installation and maintenance of new equipment, systems, hardware, and software.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in technology, alerting the Agency of the effects of widespread equipment, network, and other revisions, changes, and discontinuations will have on the Agency and related operations.
  • Coordinates and schedules large-scale equipment and network installations.
  • Ensures that projects and tasks are completed within specifications, on time, and within budget.
  • Implement applicable actions that align with and support the achievement of applicable annual strategic initiatives.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate cyber security measures.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manages IT resources to include employees, consultants, and/or third-party vendors
  • Hires and trains IT Team MembersManage the day-to-day operations of the IT DepartmentOrganizes and oversees the schedules and workload of IT Team Members
  • Facilitates performance management and professional development for IT Team Members
  • Member of the Agency’s Disaster Recovery Team


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science required with training in operations management preferred
  • Experience in project management required/project management certification preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ of relevant experience working in information technology with a minimum of three (3) years’ in a supervisory/management position required
  • Strong knowledge of independent agency system(s) preferred
  • Experience in the development and implementation of employee training for IT systems preferred
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning, or agency management system, implementation preferred
  • Currently holds, is in the process of obtaining and/or is committed to obtaining an insurance designation preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
