Communications Specialist

Insight Global is hiring for a Communications Specialist to join a Business Improvement District on-site in Hampton, VA. The Communications Specialist is responsible for engaging in outreach and public information campaigns using various methods, as well as recording and disturbing accurate minutes from Board and Committee Meetings. This role will involve managing and promoting events on all social media channels including the company's website, Facebook, X, Instagram, etc. The Communications Specialist will report to the Executive Director, as well as the Deputy serving on Board and Committee Meetings. This will involve documenting and sharing minutes from Board meetings, overseeing website updates, and promoting a positive image through press releases and member communications will also coordinate events, attend professional development sessions, and perform related tasks as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design or related
- Experience managing and posting campaigns on all forms of social media such as such as Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, etc.
- Proficiency in Canva, Microsoft Suite, desktop publishing, database, and website applications
- Knowledgeable with WordPress
- Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision with a high degree of accuracy and motivation
- Ability to multi-task and work well as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Organizational and strategic planning skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field preferred
- Familiarity with Visity or similar QR check-in applications
