Junípero Serra High School is a Catholic college preparatory for boys. Located in San Mateo, in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula, Serra’s legacy spans over 80 years of excellence in Catholic education. A rich and rigorous academic curriculum, a wide range of extracurricular activities, and an environment of support, compassion, and mutual respect are hallmarks of Serra. Serra’s faculty and staff are deeply committed to mentoring their students, providing a framework for young men to grow in faith, wisdom and service as active members and leaders in the community.


Serra’s Office of Admissions is currently searching for a dynamic team player to provide administrative and public relations support. This position reports directly to the Head of Enrollment Management with a dotted line to Director of Admissions, and it requires an individual with high energy and the ability to multitask as well as to handle both time-sensitive and confidential matters. This individual also must have a professional presence and the ability to foster strong and appropriate relationships with prospective students as well as parents, partner school administrators, parishes, the public and faculty/staff of Serra High School.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

 

  • Excellent operational, administrative and organizational skills with demonstrated experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to develop viable and appropriate relationships with all constituencies  
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity software (Serra is a Google school) and ability to master database software programs unique to the educational and admissions environments        
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended weekday and weekend hours as needed for admissions and/or school-related events
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the school community
  • Knowledge of the Serra alumni and parent community a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field

 


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Keeps accurate database records of all prospective applicants through the online enrollment application process including all required checklist items. 
  • Calculate GPA for all applicants
  • Processes all admissions-related inquiries in person, via telephone, mail or email correspondence
  • Assists with scheduling and coordination of elementary school visits and presentations and the Walk Around Wednesday program
  • Assists with the implementation of the Shadow Visit program and is responsible for maintaining appropriate information on the admissions database relative to this program
  • Provides significant support to the preparation and implementation of the annual Open House, evening recruitment events, and the freshman interview process
  • Manages volunteer activities involving both parents and students
  • Compiles and maintains lists of various contacts, prepares mailings, letters and reports and performs other clerical duties as assigned
  • Prepares for and attends all events sponsored by the admissions office, which requires flexibility and the willingness to work extended evening/weekend hours for these events
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
