A D.C.-based agricultural association is seeking a Office Manager to manage a four-person office and support a professional team consisting of the CEO, VP Government Relations and VP of Science and Innovation, along with a 50-member Board of Directors. This position is in a small and very professional organization, with strong support by its membership. The applicant will be replacing their retiring director who has successfully served the association for 20 years. This role is fully in-office.


Status: Direct Hire

Salary: Up to $130K DOE

What You'll Do:

  • Office Management: Highly organized and detail oriented. Understanding all responsibilities and collaborate and communicate with staff. Anticipates future needs and seeks opportunities in all aspects of responsibilities. Reliability and punctuality are important.
  • Financial and Human Resources: Manage all association financials such as budgets, income/expense reports, tax filings, retirement programs, filing of mandatory lobbying and Federal Election Commission reports. This includes products such as health insurance and other elements of the benefit package.
  • Meetings: Lead the selection of destinations and hotels for three, 50-person board meetings per year and the annual meeting of roughly 300 participants. Execute the meetings with room reservations, food and beverage and audio-visual needs.
  • Manages the physical office, association and political action finances, human resources, meeting planning and execution, and technology acquisition and support.
  • Manages a variety of areas of the association, and the role also requires collaboration with other national and local associations.


Job Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills. The director Reliability, and attention to detail are very important for success in this position. This is a tremendous opportunity to maximize and expand one’s talents and skills.
  • People Skills: Personality and demeanor are essential in this role. We seek someone that is upbeat, supportive, kind, transparent, patient, and persistent. Must be able to work with fellow employees, Directors across 11 states, other industry organizations, government officials, vendors, hotels, sponsors, etc.
  • Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, QuickBooks, Cvent event management, Zoom, and Teams. Manage the acquisition and maintenance electronics and corresponding security, along with IT support and website management.
  • Travel: Three board meetings, occasional site visits, and preconference meeting for the annual meeting.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of five years of office management experience.
