For 27 years, Pro Bono Partnership has provided high-quality pro bono transactional legal assistance to community-based nonprofits in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Our diverse client base includes organizations from all segments of the nonprofit sector – affordable housing, domestic violence prevention and support, mental health services, child care, veterans’ causes, animal rights, the environment, the arts and education and more.  


We assist our clients with a wide variety of non-litigation legal issues, including contract, corporate, employment, intellectual property, real estate, and tax matters. In 2023, the Partnership’s staff attorneys and volunteers from major law firms and corporations helped more than 1,000 nonprofits on a variety of legal matters, with the multiplier effect of positively impacting the lives of the thousands of individuals whom these organizations serve.

Position Description

The Partnership is seeking a Program Director to lead the work of our New Jersey office. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with corporations and law firms to encourage their volunteerism and support of the Partnership; directing New Jersey client outreach efforts; supervising two staff attorneys in the New Jersey office; maintaining an active client caseload; managing occasional one-day pro bono events; teaching educational programs for nonprofit boards and staff; and assisting in the preparation of grant applications and related reports.


The Program Director will be based in the Parsippany, NJ office and should plan to work in the office at least 2 days/week. The Partnership offers a hybrid work model and a collaborative atmosphere of dedicated nonprofit professionals. Qualifications

·     JD from an accredited ABA institute and admission to practice in New Jersey;

·     A minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience as a practicing attorney (prior nonprofit, corporate, or employment law expertise preferred);

·     Prior experience supervising lawyers;

·     Prior experience in the nonprofit sector, either professionally or as a volunteer;

·     Passion for the nonprofit sector

·     Passion for mentoring staff

·     Working knowledge of Microsoft Office platform; and

·     Excellent written and oral communication skills. 


Compensation

Salary range $115k-$135k, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits including medical, dental, 403b plan, and generous PTO. Access to voluntary benefits including FSA, vision, short and long term disability and life insurance.
