Position Summary

The Mortel High Hopes for Haiti Communications Coordinator is responsible for the development and dissemination of written and digital communications and fundraising information to generate new and sustain existing donor support. The position will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with both the US and Haiti teams to achieve the organization’s mission of feeding and educating the poorest of the poor in St. Marc, Haiti.


Key Responsibilities

Communications/Marketing

  • Create copy and/or edit existing copy for donor fundraising, newsletters, e-news
  • Manage the distribution of all written and electronic materials
  • Raise awareness of the organization’s mission through public relations, media relations, and website updates
  • Design invitations and promotional materials to support events
  • Develop and monitor the results of communications and identify ways to continually enhance effectiveness


Social Media

  • Create and manage content on all digital media: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, others as appropriate
  • Respond as appropriate to all inquiries and posts
  • Monitor analytics


Donor Relations/Student Sponsorship Program

  • Help to identify new channels for donor support through active attendance at programs, presentations, events, etc.
  • Provide support for donor mailings, phone calls, and other sponsorship program needs upon request.


Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in non-profit communications or marketing positions or donor support role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, French language fluency a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media, Constant Contact, Canva, other platforms as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mail merges and spreadsheet functions.
  • Strong record of accomplishment with project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative work style, team player.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as needed.


This is a hybrid position which requires 2-3 days/week at the Mortel High Hopes for Haiti Foundation Office in Harrisburg, PA.
