Printpack is seeking a qualified Electro-Mechanical Technician to provide electrical/mechanical support to the Elgin, IL plant and maintain plant equipment and machinery. Qualified candidates must have at least 3 years of maintenance experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This plant is a climate-controlled facility. The candidate must be a team player and be willing to share knowledge. The candidate will be required to work with all team members undertaking any, and all roles from leading a task to cleaning up after a task. A successful team member will have an extremely good work ethic, great punctuality, and attendance record. Must have solid computer knowledge and skills. Any electronics certifications are a plus. This position is for 3rd Shift (11:00 pm - 7:00 am, Su-Th).


Additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium.


Basic Knowledge

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical/electronic equipment used in the manufacturing process
  • Inspect and test electronic equipment using multi-meters, ammeters
  • Troubleshoot 24V analog and digital circuitry, electric motors and identify failures in the plant
  • Install, repair, and maintain mechanical components used in the manufacturing process
  • Experience operating of forklifts, and MEWPs
  • Experienced with conduit bending, and wire sizing
  • Familiar Microsoft based computer systems
  • Communicate effectively with team members, corporate engineering, vendors, and internal customers
  • Communicate actions taken to repair the machine to Operator and/or Manager.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of plant and process safety rules, safe operating methods, and good housekeeping standards


Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years electrical and mechanical experience is required
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Minimum of two year technical training/apprenticeship plus three years maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work any shift and overtime as needed
  • Basic understanding of start/stop, latching, motor control, and emergency circuits
  • Ability to troubleshoot and replace HMIs and VFDs
  • Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics, vendor data, and perform preventative maintenance on various types of equipment
  • Basic knowledge and understanding in process control systems such as: temperature control, pressure control, flow control, and PID control loops
  • Working knowledge of machine tools: Lathes, Mills and Drill presses
  • Basic knowledge of welding and sheet metal fabrication
  • Basic knowledge of pipe fitting
  • Basic knowledge of ovens/heaters
  • Physical ability to climb, kneel, bend and work at elevations
