Operations Director


NOTE: Full time permanent (direct hire) with one of our clients. Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder.

Accountability in a custom multi-project manufacturing environment for overall operations, on-time delivery and on budget within a safe no accident environment. Ensure facility maintenance and operational readiness of all production equipment. Apply Lean manufacturing principles within work cells, part procurement, inventory levels, and logistics for inbound and outbound freight. Required to be hands-on and roll up sleeves by interfacing directly with customers, suppliers, design, project management and finance to support on-time delivery on budget.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Mentor production employees on process, procedures, eliminating waste and lean manufacturing concepts
  • Guide procurement employees on interfacing with suppliers for custom transformers and mobile substations projects
  • Review purchase order acknowledgement and confirm terms, pricing and delivery dates vs. purchase orders
  • Alert Leadership team if project actuals will deviate from project quoted cost and delivery
  • Collaborate as a leader with Finance, Engineering, Project Management, and Production on resolving issues
  • By example, train and utilize the Quality Management System (QMS) Company Portal to optimize communication


Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly EAC feedback to project manager for labor and parts on all projects
  • Continuously improve the processes and procedures with each work cell on the production floor
  • Ensure all production capital equipment is maintained in operating condition to support the production floor needs
  • Confirm all purchase orders are placed, received, and inspected timely into the ERP system
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders of common parts and production supplies ensuring POs are placed in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with EH&S regulations using the guidance of an outside contract house (such as OECS)
  • Negotiate yearly agreements and perform QA supplier audits with all key suppliers, contractors and freight carriers


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to perform duties effectively

  • Strong collaborative, drive, and traction skills to work with team members, clients, and suppliers
  • Strong technical understanding to ensure drawings are complete and appropriate for effort
  • Excellent written, verbal and phone communications skills using Proficient in MS Office 365 tools
  • Negotiation skills to work with suppliers as partners and make the best, quality, delivery and cost decisions
  • An understanding of purchase order software ERP platforms (we use Syteline by Infor)


Required Education & Experience

  • 15+ years custom project manufacturing environments
  • Production build in a fast-paced project-based entrepreneurial envirorments
  • Experience in utilities industry, preferably with transmission transformers
